I didn't enjoy this one as much as I'd hoped to. I really liked Wicked Burn.

This one - maybe a C/C+.

One thing that really bothered me was that the heroine's name is Genevieve Bujold. (she doesn't go by her husband's name of Sauren).

Of course, Genevieve Bujold is a very famous French actress and, for me, it was like the hero was called Brad Pitt, or Hugh Jackman. It threw me out of the story quite a bit.

I had thought that the story would be more of a happy marriage with a threesome one night, then the heroine's husband dies and the "third" hooks up with her later. The marriage wasn't happy and that made it quite a different book. I guess if I hadn't had that preconception going in, I might have enjoyed it more.

Also, it kind of squicked me out that Genny fell into bed so quickly with someone who'd had his d**k down some other woman's throat the night before.

And, I HATED that Sean called Genny "girl" and she occasionally called him "boy". It hit some button I'm not sure I knew I had.

I'm still planning on reading other Beth Kery books but this one didn't work for me so well.

I reviewed this book a while ago, and it cemented my fangirl-y attitude toward Beth Kery. She's amazing, how her characters are so whole, how the romance never suffers, and how the sex--damn. ;p

I enjoyed your book review of "RELEASE" by Beth Kery very much. It sounds like an exciting book and now I'm going to have to add it to my "wish list". (Thanks a lot, Kati--it'll be YOUR fault if I go broke! LOL!)

Seriously, "RELEASE" by Beth Kery sounds like the kind of book that's right up my alley and thanks to you, I know whether it will be worth reading or not.

Excellent review Kati, and I agree with several of your observations. Beth writes a strong enough story that the suspense element really isn't necessary.

I'm looking forward to her next book.
