The menu items are more user friendly and easier to find. With the Kindle you kind of have to hunt around. <br /><br />I still haven&#39;t played with the Kindle much, however. Amazon will then convert the file to .azw (the native Kindle format). If you email it without the word &quot;convert&quot;, they just send the send same file back to you. For the gen 1 Kindle, I believe you did not have to include the word &quot;convert&quot; in your email, so that might be why your friend didn&#39;t tell you to use it. <br /><br />The conversion can be done for free if you use your free Kindle account (email to &quot;youraccountname&quot;@free.kindle.com). If you send it to this address, they will convert it, email it back to you, and you then hook up the Kindle to your computer and transfer it using the USB. <br /><br />If you send the file to &quot;youraccountname&quot;@kindle.com, they will charge you 15 cents and it will be converted, then will wirelessly download. The fee is not for the conversion, it is for the use of the wireless to receive it back. <br /><br />I had an old Gemstar ebook and while I loved it, my Kindle is far superior. That curve at the back of the device made for an easier, more ergonomic hand hold. However, I do love how thin the nook is, and the silicone cover I have on it does alleviate some of that issue.<br /><br />I didn&#39;t have any problems side-loading the audiobook, though I have to admit that once I checked it to make sure it transferred ok, I haven&#39;t actually listened to it. I think that given how much I listen to audiobooks, my iPod is still my preferred and most portable way to go. Though I like the idea of having an &quot;emergency&quot; audiobook avail on the nook. (Me, compulsive? lol)<br /><br />While I&#39;ve bought a few books from the B&amp;N store, I can tell that the vast majority of my books will continue to be sideloaded books from other ebook stores. Selection and price will win out over convenience for me.<br /><br />Now, if only the nook could sort on more than just title and author (genre, maybe?)
