This book is one of the best historicals of the year (up there with Scandal by Carolyn Jewel and Untamed by Pamela Clare). Meredith Duran has a gift in writing characters that draw you in, even the ones that you think you won't like.

I adored this author's first book, but - man, that cover illustration is not helping to make me want to pick this up.
What I find interesting though is the prominence given to the author's name, compared to the title.
I have yet to read anything by this author and I like finding new authors to read, so would love a chance at this book.
