Huge Pre-Black Friday Sale at Borders

I've always preferred Borders to Barnes&Noble. Always. Partly because the B&N in my area sucks compared to my Borders, but mostly because I like the selection better at Borders and the customer service almost always beats out that of B&N.
With the economy being down, booksellers are struggling just as much as everyone else. It would kill me if Borders closed permanently.
A couple of weeks ago, we got an email from Amy over at My Friend Amy (of the BBAW) telling us about a campaign she and some others were launching. It's called, "Books for the Holidays" (be sure to check out the Buy Books for the Holidays blog here) and basically encourages us all to chip in to help save the industry by buying nothing but books for gifts this year.
Rowena already talked about this some here, but I wanted to take a second to remind you how important books are to us (not that you need reminding, but sometimes we take things for granted, no?) and ask you to please, please consider buying nothing but books for gifts this holiday season.
To help you along in that, I'm sharing with you some exclusive members-only coupons for Borders. Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 26th, they're having an Exclusive Member Preview Day. Go take advantage of the savings and get some of your holiday shopping done early. Wouldn't it be great if you could say, while sitting around the table with your family at Thanksgiving, "I already finished all my holiday shopping"?

And don't forget, you can also order online direct from Borders.com now.

Thanks for posting about the sale. I've always given books at Christmas and plan to continue doing so. There's nothing like a book!
I love Borders and plan on doing all my Christmas shopping there. I will definitely be taking advantage of the sale.
I don't buy from Borders since there isn't one around here (not in the whole province!) but as I said in the last post, no one needs to worry about me not encouraging the book industry *g* Buying books is almost like buying food to me. And I love food :-DD
Thank you Holly. I've been dithering over buying some 'keeper' books (the list keeps increasing so I keep waiting) but I'm going to just do it :)
BTW, what is Black Friday exactly?
I love Borders! Always have a coupon each weekend. BN NEVER has a coupon. And their membership is expensive while Borders is free. They so nice there too! I love buying books as gifts! My son is a big reader and my daughter isn't but she read one author and asked for more of her books so I'm getting her one for Christmas. We have a $25 gift limit but I always add a book! Thanks for the coupon!
Orannia,
Black Friday is what us Americans refer to the day after Thanksgiving as. Basically it's the largest shopping day in the country.
Stores offer mad sales and people come out in droves for them. Sometimes as early as 3 or 4 in the morning you'll see people lined up waiting to get inside, especially at electronics stores.
It's always a madhouse on Black Friday. I only tried going out shopping during it once and..it was scary. :P But then, I'm not much of a shopper.
Caffey,
EXACTLY! B&N is kind of a ripoff in that way, don't you think?
I too prefer BORDERS over B&N. Unfortunately B&N is only 10 minutes away and BORDERS is a 45-minute drive. This, however did not stop me from going down to my favorite BORDERS yesterday and taking advantage of the DVD sales. Beanie & Shmoo are going to be very happy with a couple of my purchases. I certainly did my part for the economy.
